Speaking of Hypocrites, Let' talk Democrats, . . . and Republicans!

By Bill Neinast

Choosing the right word is hard.  What describes one who says one thing but does the opposite?  The possible choices include hypocrite, charlatan, fraud, pretender, sham fake, and others.

For this discussion, hypocrite seems to be the right choice. Hypocrisy is defined as the claim or pretense of holding beliefs, feelings, standards, qualities, opinions, behaviors, virtues, motivations, or other characteristics that one does not in actual fact hold. It is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another.

Keep that definition in mind and handy, because there are many hypocrites in this country.  They spring up daily on the radio and TV and appear most frequently as politicians.

Actually, both parties seem to be run by hypocrites.

Take the Democrats for example. They delight in criticizing the “unfairness” of this country.  In their eyes, the country is not fair because the economic pie favors the rich.  They believe that profit making enterprises are evilly grown on the backs of the working poor and that the rich do not pay their “fair” share of taxes.  That is why Class Warriors or Social Democrats is a much better name for their organization.

What makes them hypocrites in this scenario is that some of the wealthiest men and women in the country lead the Democrats.  Consider the fact that in 2013 seven of the ten wealthiest members of Congress were Democrats.  Democrat Nancy Pelosi, the Minority Leader of the House, is number 15 on that list.

Then there are the poor Clinton and Kerry families.  Former Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed they were dead broke when they left the White House 15 year ago.  Now they are multi-millionaires.  How could they be so heedless of their party’s claim to be “fair” in carving their piece of the wealth pie.

While Democrat Secretary of State John Kerry was still in the Senate, he was the third wealthiest man in the Congress.  To avoid paying his “fair” share of taxes, he registered one of his yachts in a state with a lower tax rate than his home in New York.

When those smug millionaires and billionaires surrender all of their assets except two lavishly furnished mansions, a private jet, and two Rolls Royces per family and subject their incomes, without deductions or waivers, to an income tax rate of about 75%, I might start crying with them about the unfairness of a free-market, capitalist society.

In this contest, however, the Oscar goes to the other side of the aisle.  Republicans put Democrats to shame in this contest to see who can be the most hypocritical.

The days of the Grand Old Party, the GOP, that believed in smaller government and personal freedom are long gone.  Republicans still talk about those goals but practice just the opposite.

Personal freedom for them is limited to freedoms of their choice.  The first plank in their platform and the first item covered in every Republican candidate’s campaign literature is to curtail women’s freedom.  Without any regard to the circumstances of a woman’s pregnancy, Republicans scream “You do not have the freedom to make a choice to terminate the pregnancy for any reason.”  Individual rape, gang rape, date rape, incest, accidental failure of a contraceptive, evidence of a severely retarded fetus, and many other factors are not reasons to let a woman exercise her freedom of choice whether to abort.

They justify this irrational, unscientific argument as saving “innocent” unborn lives.  In the next breath, however, they demand more and quicker executions of adults found guilty of capital crimes.  The recurring news about innocent men and women having been executed and frequently freeing prisoners from death row when new evidence establishes their innocence has no effect on their fervor for taking adult “innocent” lives.

Then they turn their penchant for curtailing others’ freedoms on those born with a different sexual orientation than theirs.  They cannot or will not accept the medical and scientific evidence of intersex individuals (formerly called hermaphrodites) and natural born homosexuals.  Their religious fervor demands that these citizens be denied the freedom to choose their sexual identity and to marry the loves of their lives.

Texas Republicans even go so far in ignoring scientific evidence that they officially adopted a plank in their state platform to support discredited “reparative therapy” to change the sexual orientation of adults from gay to straight and oppose teaching evolution in schools.

Currently, the biggest tar baby for Republicans is Sharia Law.  This abomination imposed in Muslim countries under the Koran should be avoided and abolished at all costs.  Imposing the Christian equivalent of Sharia Law, however, as in curtailing the freedom of women and homosexuals, no alcohol sales before noon on Sunday, the old Blue Laws, and other restrictions based on the Judaeo/Christian Bible are AOK.

When all this is considered, the current GOP would be less hypocritical if it renamed itself the Christian Socialist Party.

So here’s the perspective.

The world has always been, and always will be, filled with hypocrites.   The American political parties just seem to harbor more than their fair share.

If the country starts practicing what the politicians discussed here preach, we are in for a world of hurt.

Let’s hope that common sense and justice prevail.

History Lesson on Islamic invasions into Europe & other current atrocities!

People, people wake up and smell the Roses!
This was sent to me by a friend, read it and stop being a victim.
Let's all take a look back . . . . !
732 AD  the Muslim Army moving on Paris was defeated and turned back at Tours, France, by Charles Martell.
1571 AD the Muslim Army / Navy was defeated by the Italians and Austrians as they tried to cross the Mediterranean to attack
southern
Europe in the Battle of Lepanto.
1683 AD the Turkish Muslim Army, attacking Eastern Europe, was finally defeated in the Battle of Vienna by German and Polish Christian Armies.
This has been going on for 1,400 years and half of our politicians don't even know it!   If these battles had not been won, we might be speaking Arabic and Christianity could be non- existent;    Judaism certainly would be.
Hitler was an admirer of Islam.  The Mufti of Jerusalem was Hitler's guest in Berlin and
raised Bosnian Muslim SS Divisions: the 13th and 21st Waffen SS Divisions who killed Jews, Russians, Gypsies, and any other "subhumans".
Reflecting:
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
Pause a moment, reflect back.
These following events are actual events from recent history.  They really happened!
1968  Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male.
1972  at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim males.
1972  a Pan Am 747 was hijacked and eventually diverted to Cairo where a fuse was lit on final approach;  it was blown up shortly after landing by Muslim males.
1973  a Pan Am 707 was destroyed in Rome , with 33 people killed, when it was attacked with grenades by Muslim males.
1979 the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim males.
During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim males.
1983 the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim males.
1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim males.
1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim males.
1988 Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed over Scotland by Muslim males.
1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim males.
1998 the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim males.
9/11 four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one was crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim males.
2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim males.
2002 reporter Dan Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded by---you guessed it was a--- Muslim male.
2013 Boston Marathon Bombing 4 Innocent people including a child killed, 264 injured by 2 Muslim males.
This does not include the shootout in Texas at Fort Hood; nor the recent beheading of the reporter James Foley
Have the American people completely lost their minds or just their power of reason?  As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it, 'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'.
Each opportunity that you have to send this to a friend or media outlet...Do It!   OR JUST SIT BACK, KEEP GRIPING, AND DO NOTHING.      -- If you think you're too small to make a difference, you haven't been in bed with a mosquito.
I'm just sayin!

Where is our President?

Dr. Susan Myers, center, salutes her late husband, Army Maj. Gen. Harold J. Greene, as his remains are removed from a horse-drawn caisson during his burial service Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery. Her daughter, Amelia, is center left, and son 1st Lt. Matthew Greene is saluting at right with his grandfather, Harold Greene. (Photo by Bill O’Leary/The Washington Post). The Major General  is the highest-ranking officer killed in combat since Vietnam. Neither the President nor the Vice President were present.

The nominal Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama was playing a round at the Vineyard Golf Club with Valerie Jarrett’s cousin, Cyrus Walker, the World Bank president, former President of Dartmouth College Jim Kim, and former lobbyist and ambassador Ron Kirk.

Joe Biden was in the middle of the third day of a week long vacation in the Hamptons, which followed a week in Wyoming, which was preceded by a week at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.

While America has lost a two-star General who has served in a war the president has waged with one of his patented withdrawal deadlines, the Commander-in-Chief could not show the common decency to honor him with his presence.

The disconnect could not be more profound.

Is there anyone who can explain this to me!  How could our Commander-in-Chief be so disrespectful?

A Perspective on Issues of our Time - August 25, 2014

By Bill Neinast

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."  This  quote is attributed to Japanese Naval Marshal General Isoroku Yamamoto.  There is no proof that he used these exact words after launching the aerial attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.  It is commonly believed, however, that they do reflect his thoughts at the time.

Whether those exact words were used is immaterial.  The thoughts they represent were proved to be right on target.  That sleeping giant not only woke up, it jumped out of its liar and laid waste to its enemies in less than five years.

The giant continued to keep its enemies at bay until six years ago.  Then. without any hint of considering its own safety, it snuggled down for another long hibernation.

Even though the beast’s environment continued to heat beyond hibernation temperatures, the beast slept on.  If a disturbance got too noisy outside, the beast would stick a limp paw out and draw a line in front of its lair.

The hunters who wanted to decapitate the beast quickly learned that the lines were just that, lines in the sand and continued to get closer and bolder.

This so called beast is obviously the U.S. that has gone to sleep under orders from President Obama.  His press conference comments on the beheading of American journalist James Foley by a British jihadist indicate that he still believes we are simply dealing with individual terrorists.  His administration, for example, still will not qualify the surviving family members of the massacre at Fort Hood for combat benefits.

He still talks about al Qaeda being decimated and without a head and that ISIS is just a junior varsity.

Thankfully, some in the Administration are beginning to come out of their hibernation..  Secretary  of Defense Hagel and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dempsey are now publicly acknowledging that we are facing a serious crisis.

Thursday, Secretary Hagel painted a new and more dangerous picture of the threat that ISIS poses to Americans and U.S. interests. He now believes that ISIS is more dangerous than al Qaeda and stated that
the group "is as sophisticated and well-funded as any group that we have seen. They're beyond just a terrorist group,"

At the same Thursday news conference, Chairman Dempsey said that detering ISIS will require addressing "the part of the organization that resides in Syria."  He believes its long-term vision is "the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, and al-Sham includes Lebanon, the current state of Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Kuwait."

He added that, "If they were to achieve that vision, it would fundamentally alter the face of the Middle East and create a security environment that would certainly threaten us in many ways."

Now we have al Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas, Hezbolla, Muslim Brotherhood, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and Yemen among others with both the intention and means to do tremendous damage to America and Americans.  Reviewing that list brings into focus a picture of  the Lernaean Hydra in Greek mythology.

The Hydra was a serpent with so many heads an artist could not paint all of them into a picture.  When one head was cut off, two more grew back.

Isn’t that exactly what is happening in the Middle East.  Cut off one head like Osama bin Laden and two heads like ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood grow back.

Obviously, beheading the monster will not work.  The only way to stop the serpent is to drain it of its blood and stop its heart.

In this case, the blood is the money and materiel flooding into the hands of the terrorists.  It is coming from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran and other wealthy nations.  The supply might be cut off if there were enough pressure from other nations.

Organizing and applying the tourniquet will require a strong leader respected by all the other nations asked to help.  Unfortunately, we have not had a leader like that for six years.

So here’s the perspective.

A strong leader in the White House would recognize that the international hydra threatening this country is much more serious than the rioting in Ferguson, Missouri.  He would be on the phone or in Air Force One continuously to meet with and cajole other world leaders to staunch the flow of money and material to the hydra.

If that leader were recognized and appreciated by the world’s other leaders as a man of conviction who could be trusted to do what he says, there would be a good chance of stopping the heart of the hydra.

Unfortunately, the best we can hope for in this country at this time is that such a leader will move into the White House in January, 2017.

Will we be able to survive for two plus years without such leadership?

Socialism Never Works!

Let me ask you this, if socialism is such a wonderful economic system, as the liberal intellectual nincompoops continue to tell us, why, in the socialist mecca of Venezuela,  are the central planners running out of food and resorting to finger printing their citizens to make sure they don't exceed their food allocations?

I continue to ask why those liberal intellectual nincompoops who think socialism is so wonderful don't just renounce their US Citizenship and move to one of the many socialist economic meccas across the globe.  Seems like everyone would be a winner!

I'm just sayin!

Willie P

Speaking of Intellectual Nincompoops and their Elitist Attitudes

1. If you believe Christian aggression 1,000 years ago during the Crusades is a valid reason for modern Muslim aggression and beheadings.
2. If you bemoan the rise of the military industrial complex and NSA spying on citizens, while at the same time voting for politicians who favor maximum government intervention in our day-to-day lives.
3. If you consistently rage against the evils of coal and oil, then drive your electric car home and plug it into a socket powered by a plant that runs on…coal and oil.
4. If you think illegal immigrant children from all over the world should be educated in our public education system at the cost of the taxpayer, but think a black woman who lies about her street address to get her son into a better public school in the suburbs is a criminal.
5. If you think a ban on aborting babies after the 8th month is unjust but insist on banning plastic bags, e-cigarettes, black cars (something that has been attempted multiple times in California), crosses in public, Bibles in school, fireworks, transfats, sugar, fast food restaurants…you get the drift.
6. If you think making people pay for their own birth control constitutes a “war on women,” but female genital mutilation is a “cultural marker.”
7. Similarly, if you don’t want the government in your vagina but want the government to pay for what goes in your vagina.
8. If you regularly use the terms “cisgender” or “heteronormative.”
9. If you use a whole bunch of words to define something that has been simply defined since the beginning of time by all cultures everywhere at all times…forever. Boy, girl, man, woman – see…easy peezy and everyone knows what you’re talking about. IEs always need to complicate the simple and simplify the complicated.
10. If you believe requiring an ID to vote is racist but it is not racist to require an ID to: buy a gun, cash a check, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, attend a townhall meeting with your representative, enter the White House, go to a club, get on an airplane, drive a car, buy a car, insure a car, fill a prescription, buy cold medicine, open a bank account, register for school, get a library card…again, you get the drift.
11. If you are so far removed from the horrors of slavery and the ’60s civil rights movement that you equate “microagression” with being ripped apart by dogs and fire hoses because you drank out of the wrong water fountain or sat in the wrong seat on a bus.
Are you worried you may be an Intellectual Elitist? Some steps you can take toward recovery – head straight out and buy a six-pack of Budweiser, drink it while watching an “Archie Bunker” marathon and be sure to bookmark IJReview.com for the best in anti-traditional media, anti-elitist stories.
The above was sent to me by a friend and it was just too dang good to not to pass on to the readers of Common Sense Thinkers.

A Perspective on Issues of our Time - August 18, 2014

 by Bill Neinast

Fingers are pointing and wagging in both directions in Palestine.  Some are shaking their fists at Hamas and blaming those terrorists for starting the latest round of violence in the area.  Others are shaking their heads and screaming that the heartless Israelis are responsible for all the destruction and carnage.

Neither group seems to be bothered with facts.  Those facts are that the area in question has been wracked with internecine violence for a century or more.

In the early part of the last century. the area in which rockets and missiles are now flying in both directions was a British Protectorate.   The British rule was created by the League of Nations under the Mandate for Palestine of July 24, 1922.  Palestine, that had been part of the Ottoman Empire since the 16th Century, was part of the territory covered by the Mandate.

Palestine was to include a national home for the Jewish people but British rule was to last ‘until such time as they [Jewish and Palestinian states] are able to stand alone.”

The reference to a Jewish home was based on a promise made by Britain’s Prime Minister Arthur Balfour in the so-called Balfour Declaration in 1917.  The Declaration called for a Jewish home, but also provided, "that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of the existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.”

The Jews in Palestine began to chafe under the British rule almost from the beginning.  In the 1930s, an organization called the Haganah began acts of terrorism against the British occupying forces.  This activity subsided during WWII, but began again after the defeat of Germany and continued until the formal creation of Israel in 1948.

This abbreviated history does not tell the whole story.   Israel was actually created under a September 3, 1947, UN “Plan” of partition to create "Independent Arab and Jewish States and a Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem administered by the United Nations.”

That is when the real conflict began. Arabs began streaming out of the new state of Israel and Egypt and other surrounding nations began military actions to destroy this upstart.

As a surprise to many, the fledgling nation not only repulsed every attack, it expanded its original territory.  As the leaders of the emerging nation recognized, the original lines of the partition left Israel dominated by the Golan Heights in enemy hands.

As any military history buff knows, the high ground dominates.  Many definitive battles are fought to hold or take the high ground. The battles at Little Round Top at Gettysburg and at Heartbreak Ridge in North Korea are two of the better known examples from recent history.

Because of the importance of the high ground,  Israeli enlarged its originally assigned territory by annexing the Golan Heights at the first opportunity afforded by its enemy attacking once again.

Since that day, there has not been a day of peace in the area.  Bullets, bombs, or rockets may not be flying every day, but the tension is always there.  The Israeli military has to be at the ready every hour.

Iran, the new Islam Caliphate of Syria and Iraq, other countries, and various militant organizations like Hamas have vowed the complete destruction of Israel and Jewish Israelites.

Hamas’ main organization is in Gaza, an enclave surrounded by Israel.  Because of the violence against Israel and Israelites imitating from Gaza, Israel occupied the small by densely populated area for a while.  When things were considered under control, Israel withdrew to see an immediate resumption of the violence.

To choke off the flow of arms into Gaza and the infiltration of agents, Israel blockaded Gaza by land and sea except for humanitarian aid and fishing boats that were limited to a three mile area.

Hamas quickly thwarted the blockade with a series of sophisticated tunnels that allowed both the importation of sophisticated rockets and the infiltration of kidnapping terrorists into Israel.

Hamas hid the rockets and ammunition in schools, hospitals, and other civilian enclaves.  They then began firing thousands of rockets or missiles from those civilian hideouts into Israel.

Fortunately, Israel has a sophisticated defense system.  It can detect a rocket or missile immediately upon launch.  It can also determine the probable target of the  weapon.  If it is targeted on an uninhabited area, it is ignored.  If, however, an occupied area is in its sights, Israel’s expensive but state of the art “Iron Dome” will destroy the bomb in flight.

That system will also determine the launch site and bring it under destructive fire, even if it is surrounded by “innocent” men, women, and children.

So here’s the perspective.

The finger wagging at Israel is based on the news coverage of the body count of civilians and the property destruction in Gaza.  No thought is given to who is furnishing the destructive weapons to Hamas, an organization with no known source of income like taxes, and why those weapons are being fired from civilian housing.

One of the more naive thoughts today is that wars can be and should be fought without civilian casualties.  Such wars, if they ever existed, are long gone.  Consider the hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths in Dresden, Germany, and in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, under British and American bombs.  How many soldiers would have died if those bombs were not dropped?

How many civilians will have to die before Muslim terrorists in Gaza and elsewhere realize they may be facing a Hiroshima/Nagasaki moment?

A Perspective on Issues of our Time - August 11, 2014

By Bill Neinast

As Yogi Berra observed, “It’s like last week was deja-vu, all over again.”  Every clip of President Obama commenting on the disaster in Iraq morphed into a picture of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s famous “Peace for Our Time” speech in 1936.  That was just a few months before the beginning of WWII.

Most of Obama’s comments were accompanied with scenes of the thousands of the Yazidi religious minority surrounded on Mount Sinjar without food, shelter, or water by Islamist extremist threatening to annihilate them and all non-Muslim believers. That coverage morphed into the scenes of Jews being herded onto box cars in Germany while the rest of the world stood by and said, “Nothing will happen to them.  They are just being relocated.”

These flash backs make me wonder if Obama and his principle advisors have ever looked past the cover of any history book.  Neither he nor his past and present Secretaries of State and Defense seem to have any understanding of international relations or strategy.

There is an urgent need for the federal decision makers to forget about political correctness and recognize that right now, today, we are embroiled in a world war.  This country and other non-Muslim countries are in the gun sights of Muslims around the world.

Some politicos steeped in political correctness are already crying, “Wait a minute!, isn’t lumping all Muslims together like what Hitler did to the Jews?”

Well yes and no.  The carnage going on in Syria, Iraq, France (home to the largest Muslim population in Europe where the attacks on Jews is reminiscent of Krystallnacht in Nazi Germany), and Gaza/Israel plus the move for nuclear weapons in Iran are all in the hands of radical Muslims, Islamists, or Jihadists. The other Muslims simply sit idly by without a word of condemnation or speeches denouncing the Jihadists as not true Muslims.

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria now controls more territory than some independent nations in the area.  The insurgents controlling that territory designate themselves a Caliphate and vow to control all of Syria, Iraq, and much of the Middle East.  Their avowed purpose is the elimination of Israel and much or most of the non-Muslim world, particularly America, the great Satan.

Those Muslims are well on the way toward their goal.  The Caliphate is considered to be a safer and more productive haven for Jihadist than either Afghanistan or Pakistan.  They are recruiting Sunni fighters from Iraq by the hundreds and there are indications that some Americans, Englishmen, and other westerners are making their way for Jihadist training to go back home and wreak havoc.

The only possible force to stop the rapid growth of the Caliphate is the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters.  They are standing and fighting while the regular Iraqi soldiers run and drop their weapons.

The Caliphate is winning the battle.

The Jihadists are fighting with modern American weapons they captured from the retreating Iraqis.  The Kurds, however, are responding with the antiquated rifles and equipment left behind by the American forces when Obama jerked them out of the country without even an attempt to force Maliki into a Status of Force Agreement to keep some American boots on the ground.

The Kurds have been, and are, begging for American arms (not boots on the ground) to bolster the defense of their territory.  Obama just turns a deaf ear.  His excuse is that Kurds are Iraqis and should get arms from the stash that was left with their totally ineffective Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

An understanding of relatively modern history might have helped avoid some of the mire in which the country is now sinking.

That history involves our former enemies.  Japan, Italy, and Germany share one thing other than having been allies against us in the 1940s.

The commonality is that almost three quarters of a century after WWII, substantial U.S. military forces are still based in the territory of our enemies.  That military presence allowed our fallen enemies to pick themselves up, become our military allies, and become economic power houses of their areas.

Leaving an Army division or equivalent forces in Iraq to bolster their reconstruction might have kept ISIS confined to Syria without any hope of moving into neighboring territory.

Another history lesson might provide a path for a little help today.  This is the story of the Berlin Blockade.  In June, 1948, the Soviet Union blocked all land access to West Berlin.  The purpose was for the Soviet Union to gain control over all of Berlin, which lay in its zone of occupation.

The U.S.’s and Great Britain’s response was the Berlin Airlift.  The air forces of those countries flew over 200,000 flights in one year, providing up to 4700 tons of necessities daily, such as fuel and food, to the Berliners.  Finally, on May 12, 1949, Moscow caved, lifted the blockade, and Berlin remained open and free, but divided between East and West, until reunification in 1989-1990.

So here’s the perspective.

We are currently facing a serious threat to our security.  If the Caliphate takes over all of Syria and Iraq. the threat we previously faced from al Qaeda will look like sand box play.

Because of the fecklessness of our President, there is not much that can be done now to turn the tide.

Currently, the pin pricks of launching fighter planes off one air craft carrier are the equivalent of playing tennis without a racquet.

Applying the history lesson of the Berlin Airlift might help some.  A continuous air lift of U.S. military equipment from Germany to the airport in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, could supply enough muscle for the Kurds to at least buy time.

God Bless Texans!

One day, behind the Orange Curtain, in the socialist controlled City of Austin, a very gentle and refined conservative Texas lady was driving across the Colorado River bridge just east of the Marshal Ford Dam.  As she neared the top of the bridge, she saw a young man fixin’ to jump off the rail of the new bridge to his death hundreds of feet below into the river bed. (BTW "fixin" in Texas means: has the means or abilities to take action)

She stopped her car, rolled down the window and said, "Please don't jump! Think of your dear mother and father."  He replied, "My mom and dad are both dead; victims of the greed created by the capitalist system. I'm going to jump."

She said, "Well, think of your sweet wife and precious children."
He replied, "I'm not married, and I don't have any kids."

She said, "Well, then remember the Alamo and those who fought for the Republic of Texas back in 1836."

He replied, ''What's the Alamo ?''

She replied, ‘’Well, bless your heart! - You just go ahead and jump.. you little Yankee carpet bag socialist! You’re holding up traffic”.

Now don't you just love Texas and Texans, I certainly do!

A Perspective on Issues of our Time - August 4, 2014

By Bill Neinast

A double agent is a man or woman employed by the intelligence or security forces of one nation who works clandestinely for the services of another nation.  They clandestinely feed important information to their secret employer or implant erroneous situations in their own offices or both.

Double agents may also operate in the political parties of this country.  A  Democrat double agent employed by Republicans might be responsible for the recent vote in the U.S. House of Representatives authorizing Speaker of the House John Boehner to sue President Obama for not enforcing the law.

That has to be a plan that has democrats clapping and slapping each other on the back in celebration of getting the republicans to undertake such a bizarre act.  Filing such a law suit could tip the balance in favor of democrats in close races for both the House and Senate and thwart the hopes of republicans to win control of the Senate.

I was head of the Army’s civil litigation office in the Pentagon for three years.  Most of the litigation was in federal courts with many cases filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  That is where Speaker Boehner would sue President Obama if he decides to proceed with the litigation.

During my three years of federal litigation, I saw many bizarre claims and cases, but I do not recall any as far out as Congress suing the President.

If such a suit is filed and if I were representing the President in the proceedings, I would do everything in my power to keep the proceedings alive and well until the election in November.  A formal answer would be filed to join the issues and then massive discovery would be undertaken.

Every possible gimmick to attract the news media attention would be initiated to hammer the republicans with their waste of time, money, and resources on ridiculous litigation instead of addressing the serious international and domestic issues facing the nation.  That publicity should give quite a boost at the polls for democrat candidates for offices at all levels.

Then, the day after the November election results are in, I would file a motion to dismiss for lack of standing by plaintiff Boehner to proceed on such a law suit.

In my opinion, the motion to dismiss would be granted and the suit would be dismissed immediately.   Consider, for example, the precedent that would set if the suit were allowed to proceed.

If Congress could sue the President claiming that he was not doing his job to enforce the law, then the President could sue the Congress for not doing its job to enact laws to fix problems like the immigration fiasco.  If Congress  and the President can sue each other, can they also sue the Supreme Court when they do not like the decisions of that Court?  What about the Supreme Court then suing Congress or the President for not following its decisions?  Who would hear such a suit?

Blaming a democrat double agent for possible court proceedings by the House of Representatives against the President is a fantasy.  A more reasonable excuse is that it is a sop from the House leadership to the Representatives lobbying for impeachment of the President.

Speaker Boehner knows the Democrat controlled Senate would not convict President Obama if he were impeached by the House.  So to dampen the lobbying for impeachment, which might, in fact, be fueled by Democrats for its propaganda value, he is trying to mollify them with the folly of a law suit.

So here’s the perspective.

Any attempt to either impeach or sue the President is doomed to failure.  Either alternative, however, would be an answer to democrat prayers, as it would divert media attention from all the other problems at their feet.

Arguing over these alternatives is worse than impeaching or suing.  Sniping at each other has replaced the serious business of addressing real problems.  If these tactics continue, a video may emerge of fist fights on the House floor like those seen in the legislative bodies of third world countries.

Maybe Will Rogers was correct when he observed, “The U.S. is safest when Congress is in recess.”
